New Balance 999 “CML” x Packer Shoes

Back in March, Packer Shoes celebrated the 20th anniversary of the New Balance MT580 with 500 pairs of their global exclusive MT580 “Pine Barrens” edition. Now they are honouring another beloved NB classic, the 999, which also celebrated a milestone birthday, turning 30 years old in 2016.

For Packer’s take on the timeless runner, they looked to New Balance’s incomparable history when it comes to the use of premium materials on their shoes. Inspired by camel hair and its popularity in fashion today, the 999 comes in a tan nappy suede for a look derived from the desert sands, but geared towards city streets.

Packer’s “CML” edition of the 999 features a combination of luxurious materials, supplementing the rough suede with micro-perfed pigskin on the toe box and side N logos and rich nubuck on the tongue and heel tabs. Supple brown leather trim combines with gradient coral accents to complete the look, along with reflective 3M panels on the heels and contrasting hits of cool grey on the midsole and outsole.

The 999 isn’t everyone’s first choice of silhouette due to it’s notoriously bulky shape, but if you’re into them, then you can grab them at Packer only on December 10th both in-store and online.

Checking Packer’s site for the information above, they also said that there are still more surprises to come, so stay tuned for that when it’s announced!
