Over the last month or so, there’s been one model that we’ve been fully backing, and that’s the New Balance MFL574 “Fresh Foam”. Now, we don’t care much for the 574 itself, except the Made in USA version, but those reengineered version of the 574 model takes it to a whole other level.
New Balance themselves state that this model is the “perfect balance of life and style”, and, well, we have to agree. The 574 was originally designed in 1988, and is seen worldwide, from your high street shops, to your fashion boutiques, there will always be at least one 574, I guarantee that.
However, the Fresh Foam 574 is something new, and different. It takes performance running, and infuses it with a classic, something which we’re seeing quite a lot now from New Balance, and we are thoroughly enjoying it.
These three particular pairs I want to look at are the MFL574AN (navy/white), the MFL574AS (burgundy/cream), and the MFL574AG (grey/cream).

As with almost anything New Balance do, the stick to what they’re good at, and that’s their heritage colourways of navy, grey, and burgundy, so it’s no surprise that we see the New Balance MFL574 ‘Fresh Foam’ being introduced with these three colourways.
Each one of them feature a sleek seamless upper dressed in either navy blue, burgundy or grey, with a mesh underlay, all sat on the performance tuned Fresh Foam midsole, making this shoe exceptionally comfortable. Of course, no shoe is complete without some 3M, so this features on all three shoes.
We managed to get our hands on the navy and burgundy pairs, and have tried and tested these, and can confirm that we’re not just talking them up for no reason, they are real good. Check out a few on-foot shots that we took below:
Thomas wore the MFL574AN while he was on holiday in Italy, and they held extremely well in the heat, rain, and dust, whatever the Italian weather through at them. Perfect.
Burgundy is the one for Rob, one of his all time favourite colourways on a shoe, and he is a huge fan of the streamlined shape that these MFL574 “Fresh Foam” have.
Both the navy and the burgundy pair are currently available on New Balance, so link through here to grab them >> New Balance MFL574 – or click on any of the images!
