We posted some of the teaser images of the New Balance x Grenson over the last few weeks, which you can check out here, but finally, the full shoe can be revealed in all it’s glory!
When we first heard that New Balance and Grenson were collaborating with one another, the model that instantly came to mind was the 576, and we could already imagine the lush leather and brogue detailing. This was all speculation at the time, but it just seemed like an obvious but very fitting choice, and we weren’t to be disappointed.
1 SHOE. 2 FACTORIES. This is the tagline that has been attached to this collaboration between these two heavyweights.
If we were asked to define what the term collaboration should mean in footwear, then you can imagine it’d be something along the lines of the following. The New Balance 576GRB was manufactured across both Grenson’s Northampton factory, and New Balance’s UK factory in Flimby, Cumbria, utilising the craftsmanship, expertise and premium materials of both parties.
The leather used on this shoe is Grenson’s best Italian grade A calf-skin leather and was worked into the 576 pattern at Flimby, before being shipped back down the road to Grenson, where they applied their signature burnishing and broguing details. Following this, all the components were then returned to the Flimby factory where they were then assembled into the final shoe.
This collaboration between New Balance and Grenson has definitely raised the bar when it comes to ambition, mainly due to the complexity and delicacy of the whole process, but boy have they nailed it.
The New Balance 576GRB x Grenson will be available beginning 9th of January from Grenson, and limited pairs will be available globally at specific retailers from the 23rd of January. We’ll be at the launch party this weekend, so be sure to keep an eye on our social feeds, until then, enjoy some more images!
