New Balance 997 x J.Crew “Butterscotch”

J.Crew have worked on New Balance silhouettes such as the 1400, 998, 990, and the Trailbuster, and time after time again, we have said that we think they are the most consistent collaborator. They rarely put a foot wrong, and although they have worked on the 1400 and 998 more times than we can remember, each and every colourway excellent in it’s own right.

This month will see J.Crew take on the model that has got everyone talking, the Made in USA New Balance 997.

We’ll lay out everything you need to know about this collaboration below, and then we’ll leave you to make your minds up about this shoe, but as soon as J.Crew and 997 was used in the same sentence together, we knew to expect greatness.

Hopefully the above video has got you in the mood for this collaboration, it certainly got us excited.

The Made in USA New Balance 997 x J.Crew “Butterscotch” reminds us a little of the 577HB, otherwise known as the “Hash Brown” from yesteryear, and that colourway is pretty perfect, and like that pair, J.Crew’s take on the 997 features premium suede and leather uppers with mesh underlays in creamy brown and beige tones.

Add to that some nubuck, 3M reflective detailing, and the very comfortable 997 Encap midsole, and we have a complete package!

The inspiration is taken from Grandpa’s candy dish, and the butterscotch which apparently frequented said dish, maybe this strikes home with you, who knows, we just see an excellent model and colorway regardless.

The shoe will retail for 210USD and is set to drop exclusively at J.Crew on March 12th, good luck to those who try to grab a pair.
